I'm currently running my campaign, and I think the thing I've learned is that you can read every article and tips book, listen to every podcast and watch every video, and still nothing quite prepares you for the highs and lows of running a campaign for yourself. There really is no alternative to experience, and although I thought I was well-prepared, I had no idea how much I didn't know.
The biggest thing for me, is how hard it is to get visibility on the Kickstarter site. It's pretty tough once your project falls off the front page to get people to see your project, so it really hammers home how important PR, marketing and direct referrals are.
