    Kickstarter ranking

    by wearbrave » Mon Mar 23, 2015 6:59 pm

I am quite confused by the Kickstarter ranking system. I have 16 days to go and I'm almost 80% funded. Yet on the Kickstarter rankings I list way down under projects which have 0% funding and no backers. I really don't get it at all.

I've seen a Fiverr listed where someone says they can get you into the the top 20. I'm skeptical. Has anyone actually tried it and does it work?

I believe it has a lot to do with how often you get backers. So if you have a big bump in backers, you'll go up the list.

I was reading an article about that, and they say if you get 50 backers in the first day, then you will remain in the top twenty popular area. And every day that you don't get backers that your position drops. And it is hard to compete with newer campaigns in the end. Even if you are fully funded you can go below people who have not made any funding at all.

    It is weird.

The Kickstarter algorithm is proprietary, so no one really knows aside from educated guesses. If a person can get you to #1 on Kickstarter, that seems to me like the same person who says they can get you to #1 on google for $5 (which is unrealistic)
