Kickstarter declined - Is our explanation clear enough?

    by xiller » Thu Oct 24, 2013 9:52 am

Unfortunately Kickstarter has declined our project because it’s against the guideline: no apps focused on social networking. We don’t think that our app is about social networking because first of all, there is no chat where people can discuss with each other. People can’t write comments, or ‘network’ with other users. The only way to have an interaction with other user is to send a private message to him. But every multiplayer game has that.

We need your opinion: is that explanation clear? If we write that to Kickstarter staff, will they understand that our app isn’t about social networking? We would really appreciate your time! Here is the link to preview: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/169 ... n=aeaa46bf

    Thank you!

    Best,
    Anton Levitskij

We have been brainstorming and we got an idea that we put a list on our campaign page. Like this:

Is our app an alternative social network? NO, because
    - The app isn’t about making friendships
    - No chat: users can’t discuss with each others
    - Users can’t write comments
    - The main thing is disliking. Sharing is just a side effect what all fb apps have
    - You use nickname on Dizzlike Profile, so nobody knows, who the person behind the profile is

We understand that an app isn't NOT on social networking focused app because it doesn't have all the features that others on social networking focused apps have. But as I said, we are brainstorming. The goal of the Dizzlike Profile could be earning acheivements?

One thing that may have gotten them confused is you used the word "profile" which usually is linked to a social network.

If you look at their guidelines, "Kickstarter cannot be used to fund websites or apps focused on e-commerce, business, and social networking."

They could argue that your app, while not a social network, is in some way focused on social networking because of the facebook integration?

I would write back with the bullet points you listed and see what they say.

Great points Sal, once again. We will change the name to "Dizzlike Button". We can write one appeal to KS. Let's see, what they answer.
