Hey everyone,
So I am stressing over a problem I can't fix. In a nutshell, I have received a lot of support from my friends and family up until this point. We have put in around $20,000 to cover the costs for the current development (I thankfully managed to support 2 of my friends with enough funding so they could work full time on the game for 4 months and have money for university). We are seeking another $20,000 on Kickstarter to finish the game.
My family and friends have done enough for me in the past year and it doesn't feel right to ask them for MORE upon the kickstarter launch. This is very crucial for a project at the start of its launch; Getting the
10-30% funded from friends and family will bring in more potential backers. Unfortunately this is something I just can't do.
I am trying very hard to reach out to other RPG enthusiasts in different gaming communities online (crowdfundingforum, kickstarterforum, preapps, Thunderclap(currently live), Epocu, Reddit, the list goes on...). I have not found much success using facebook or twitter --- facebook ads are usless and when I am trying to reach my friends it all depends on the right time to post. Twitter hasn't been very successful either, all I have for followers are various crowdfunding/crowdspeaking platforms that want my business.
I have also tried to directly email a couple different online game mags in the hopes of getting lucky and seeing a free PR come out of it, but no luck there.
There is obviously SOMETHING I am doing wrong with my pre-launch promotion but I am not sure what it is. I believe what I have to show is a lot compared to other projects/games.
Thanks,
