Don't connect your Facebook to your Kickstarter campaign

    by Jwen » Fri Aug 05, 2016 3:57 pm

We always talk about the credibility and legitimacy of a campaign, but why we never talk about backers?
Not all backers are saint, 90% of them are cool backers and they are really nice people on Kickstarter. But the 10% that I want to talk about is the minority of them that are not happy when they see people succeeding and they feel happy and accomplish something when they reporting every single campaign that they found fishy to them but never want to discuss it with the campaign creator (via message) and even if they do, they always make a scene by posting it on the comment section. (This kind of backers give KS a bad name and they act like the KS police)

What do you guys think about this kind of backers? Did you ever see one or two on any campaign?

Holy crap this backer is scary!

    by Jwen » Wed Aug 10, 2016 3:49 pm

Ok one of our sub-brand creator is launching a campaign like a month ago and this backer https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/2126319650 keep bombarding their comment section like crazy with nonsense that have nothing to do with their product over and over again.
We try to advise them to ignore him but somehow this harasser will just not stop, so eventually we put a complaint to KS and the only thing KS can say is to reply to him politely and professionally. Ok so they did, you know what? This person even going even worst he start putting the creator personal information on the comment section (It got deleted twice by Kickstarter), Isn't this become out of control and count as cyber-stalking? Any creator have any idea how to handle with this kind of situation? (We already advise the creator to keep putting complaint to KS about this individual, so far there is no significant action taken by KS)

Oh, I think I forgot to mention he is a fellow creator as well.... He create a campaign before as well you can check it out.
One thing the reason why you shouldn't connect your Facebook profile to your KS page is this, because this person start putting the creator personal Social media on the comment section and urge the rest of the backer to attack them. (Good thing the creator see this quickly and reported it to KS so some of his comment has been deleted)
He had a total of 28 comments and all of those comments mostly just harassing one creator...

There is not a single backers on the creator campaign that complaining about the credibility of the creator. Only this one person, that think he can abuse his power as a backer (He is not a backer because the creator told us that he just put $1 on day 1 and start harassing them)
This is Kickstarter Term of use and community guidelines
    https://www.kickstarter.com/help/community
    https://www.kickstarter.com/terms-of-use

This person clearly break all of the KS rule and there is no action taken to this kind of backers yet after harassing a creator for 30 days non-stop

After some research, we found out that 80% of this person comments on his profile all are negative and hate + he is a creator too! He have a campaign and it doesn't look really legit either and he link a website to his profile that not his website. This is his profile https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/2126319650

Maybe he make a campaign and it didn't work well for him so he's kinda stress and start rampaging on Kickstarter and being mean to everyone and unluckily he found that campaign to unload his anger.

Actually he have 2 comments on that campaign comments section that got deleted by Kickstarter because it was waaaayyy out of line, and he said it himself that he got banned for a week from KS but that's it. After the banned finished he is coming back with more questions basically to sabotage the creator campaign with ridiculous questions about pricing etc.

His name is MJ Farley just a heads up for all creator be careful if he coming to your campaign because you are going to get a world of hatred coming to your comment section.
