Does funding go down after day 1?

    by michaelm69 » Fri Jun 20, 2014 4:42 am

I am close to hitting 25% of my funding goal in my first day but I am wondering if it is normal and then the momentum just slows down or if that is an indicator that things are going well and should continue.

here is my project. If you have any advice or comments please let me know

For a lot of project, momentum tends to slow down in the middle. This is not always the case. I have seen some projects that maintain linear growth (usually fueled by the creator's outreach/marketing).

    Hey Michael!

I have a question - I clicked on your link and saw your landing page, it was beautifully laid out! I wonder did you model this after the Soma guys. I read their growth hack article on the 4 Hour work week site. If you did, have you been sending everyone to that page instead of your main kickstarter page? If so, how has that worked out?

I think funding goes down after you tap out your family and friends. The truth is, the primary source of income for most projects will be through personal connections. So yes, I have found there is a slow down. The key is to post periodic updates. I try to do one at 25%, 50%, 75% and 90%. If I only post to facebook and twitter four times during a campaign I don't worry about over-spamming or donor fatigue. And the people that forgot to contribute the first go around, still have a chance to help towards the end.

    Sincerely,

    Devon Pollard
