My Kickstarter doc is about finding solutions to the lack of diversity in Hollywood. I did a search on BuzzSumo for "diversity in Hollywood". It spit back the top hits. From their I've used some of the key phrases that popped up on facebook and twitter when I make posts. Hope that helps/clarifies.

Ive contacted quite a few related logs and websites. I think it is most effective when you have a more tangible product as apposed to an idea (which is what I have) they dont want to lose credibility to advertise something which potentially no happen. Blogs are very welcoming especially if they will receive product goodies but that all I have learnt so far.

Well I made a PDF spread of what my project is about. To make it more exciting! It grabs their attention but as my idea was is in its earlier stages they suggested other options like advertising....:/

so it may work for you depending on your project and how it works for them.

+1 for Buzzsumo too. Wondering if there's a discount for new subscribers too?

What is your best advise for contacting the media for a photographic project I intend to start campaigning on Indiegogo? I am living in Cape Town, and I definitely need to reach the world for this project, not only South Africa.

Paul, does your photo project have a news 'hook,' or a reason for readers to care about your project during your campaign? Editors of mainstream newspapers, magazines and websites often ask the question, 'why should we care about this now?' when considering whether to run with a story idea.

Is it possible to link your photographs (which are excellent, by the way -- I encourage everyone to check out Paul's website) to an environmental issue, a conference, an anniversary (region marks 10th year of X), or another topic in the news? Editors receive a lot of pitches for stories, so help them choose yours by explaining why your crowdfunding project is newsworthy.

    Best of luck,

    Matt

    Thank you Mattgo.
UTOPIA definitely has a news hook... IMO at least. But better judge for yourself...
