    by lifeacoustics » Fri Jul 31, 2015 1:51 am

Seems to be just about the most solid offer we have received.

    Any insight?

The guys name is Patrick Calderon-Dakin and the site is crowdco.co

I am sure a lot of visitors will find this very informative. As founder of Crowdco, I wanted to clarify and give a few updates. The initial question posted by Life Acousticts (which by the way did brought us on board). Life Acoustics campaign which got funded https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lifeacoustics/life-headphones-better-fit-better-sound-higher-pur?ref=nav_search and we got them on some great publications including Geeks and Beats http://www.geeksandbeats.com/2015/08/a-revolutionary-sound/ and AZ Tech http://www.geeksandbeats.com/2015/08/a-revolutionary-sound/, and possibly a future Techrunch story.

    To answer the Rippoff question:
We actually have two Ripoffs. The first one was from a client that actually got funded. The project is called ubi wallet. The client wanted a refund because we didnt get him on Mashable. But we did get him featured by some blogs, and we improved his page which got him funded. Previously he ran a past campaign that didnt get funded. The second rippoff was for a project called Papa Steves. The client (Papa Steves) breached our contract agreement by deciding not pay our team for all the work building the pre campaign and unfortunately we couldn't continue. Rippoff reports are nearly impossible to remove unless its removed by the court by suing the person who posted this in the first time (you can learn more about how Rippof is the new legal racketeer website https://moz.com/blog/the-anatomy-of-a-ripoff-report-lawsuit. We decided not to go this route and focus on improving our game, to help tech and product design projects succeed even more. We got two bad reviews from hundreds of projects we have managed and our goal is to be the best agency out there. We are definitely not planning on ripping off anybody or scamming. As one of the most established Crowdfunding Marketing Agencies with over 5 years and more than $5M raised we are focused on helping the ecosystem get stronger and more exciting.

For more info please check out what these clients have to say about us.

Here is our official review, having used Crowdco / Patrick Calderon-Dakin to do PR for our campaign.

    The good:
Patrick was very good to communicate over the phone. He was assuring and confident in his plan when we spoke on the phone.

    The not so good:
First, Patrick wasn't very timely in getting back to us. It usually took a few emails to get him to respond. He also never answered his phone when we called him. And we tried many times.

    The bottom line:
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND Crowdco or Patrick Calderon-Dakin's services.

    The reason:
Patrick / Crowdco's results did not come close to providing our company with value near the amount we paid him for his services. He landed us several minor pieces in the media, none of which drove any significant amount of traffic to our campaign. The truth is, WE RECEIVED NO PLEDGES FROM PATRICK's WORK.

Regardless of what Patrick/Crowdco says, we hired him with the expectation that his work would bring in more pledges. We wanted PR to act as marketing for our campaign. Marketing produces sales or in this case pledges. Crowdco did not do this for us. This is inarguable fact.

Spot on. When I first come across your threads, I was stunned by the fact you are going to give crowdco a go.

But then, thanks to you, now everyone know how bad it is. Nice one bro.

Why is it so hard to find a legitimate crowdfunding service that works like they claim on their website or promotion :(
My last one even didn't work on anything beside posting on FB and Twitter that bring 0 Contribution...

Honestly, I think it's because a lot of crowdfunding founders are inexperienced and excited and thus easily duped.

But that's why we need a forum like this to warn eachother on!

Update on my interaction with Patrick Calderon and Crowdco:

I will refrain from editorializing and simply convey the facts of what has happened. I leave it to the readers of this thread to draw conclusions as necessary.

Since posting my above review (Early October), Patrick contacted me and offered a refund of the full amount we paid him. We have it in writing. He promised to send the refund within a week. He did not send us this refund. After a week or two we contacted him asking him for a timeline. He said he felt more comfortable only giving us a 2/3 refund and that it would come soon.

He did not send us this refund. We followed up with him multiple times over the phone and email. Eventually he sent us a 1/3 refund and promised the rest soon. He has since not met two deadlines he has given me on paying the rest of the refund and has had excuses each time as to why he has not yet refunded us.

We have been waiting two months for our refund which has not yet been delivered in full.

    Hi LifeAcoustics,

I'm sorry that you had to go through this and I hope it didn't ruin your crowdfunding experience entirely. I really appreciate you letting the crowdfunding community know so that people know to be cautious when choosing to opt in for additional paid marketing assistance.

    Thank you!

    Kind Regards

    Jake
