I'd like to get a small discussion going on whether or not you should announce stretch goals from the minute you launch, when you are nearing your goal, or when you've reached your goal.
Personally, I think you should announce them only once you've hit your goal, but you should begin to think of the logistics once you hit the 60% mark (sooner if they are complex). I think the exception to this would be if there is a super compelling stretch goal and you have an established audience and know that you will hit your goal very soon, meaning within the first 3 days. Then, it might make more sense to announce them from the beginning to get people excited about spreading the word about your project to hit them and since you will have a lot of momentum initially, it will help sustain it.
