We paid for our project to be included in the backerclub community, which comes with a money back guarantee. If you don't receive $500 in contributions and if your project doesn't get funded then you get a refund for the listing price ($279). We got funded in the first week, so I don't think its due to a poor product. My guess is the audience just isn't targeted to watches.
We also paid to be featured in an email (was the subject of the email), and that flopped. So all in all, if we don't receive $500 in contributions, we'll at least get our $279 back. Currently its at $200+ of contributions.
Wondering if anyone here has had success with these "clubs" or if they're more of sham.
Hi Egenazia!
I wouldn't call all of these clubs 'shams', but the truth is, most of them aren't worth the money. I am a fan of Backerclub due to the honesty of the staff. I like that they have a straightforward refund policy and are known to stick to it, where others are known to do whatever they can to keep your money. Alot of the campaigns I have worked with have had success with them which is great!
Backerclub seems to have very mixed results and it also seems to be more suited toward campaigns that are raising alot of money and are already on their way to success. As there are so many campaigns on there now, it is like Kickstarter; the smaller campaigns just get lost in the searches.
In the end, each campaign is different, and there is no one service that suits everyone. Ultimately it is up to the creator to make the decision on what to do. With Backerclub's refund policy, I personally do not see a huge risk.
Cheers!
Best Regards,
Jake
