Well, we are coming to the end here. There are just 36 hours left in our campaign. Here is how has gone so far.
Marketing dollars spent: $870 (The prior total was $788 but since my last update we have spend $82 on Facebook ads that sent people directly to the Kickstarter page)
Time spent: Lots, probably 150 hours. It will probably be 250 hours by the time we ship everything in November.
Funds raised $3,537.00
Overall, I think the project is only a minor success.
1. Bad: It never received any media excitement. I think the product is just too obvious/everyday. It wasn't sexy enough to write about and that didn't help us.
2. Good: It sold well. Of the 600 people that viewed our video, 63 ordered the thing. I think that shows that the product makes sense and our project page did its job even though we didn't spend big bucks on it.
3. Bad: We didn't get enough visitors to sell a bunch of them and pay a fair wage for all of the time it will take to launch the product.
4. Good: I launched a new consumer product without any real risk, just my own sweat equity. After I ship these pre-orders I will be able to build the brand and hopefully get it into retail stores, yoga studios, and direct to consumers via Amazon and other online marketplaces.
