My dream is to inspire young people about business. I worked on a project called BOSS and we taught kids from 6th grade through 12th grade how to run a 40 million dollar manufacturing company. These kids learned about r&d, marketing, capital budgeting and manufacturing. At the end of the 8 week course they would get up in front of a group of business leaders and present on how their company did in profit and loss and market shares. I realized that kids have a passion for business.
Another thing I realized is as parents we hold our kids back. How many have asked your child, what do you want to be when you grow up? A doctor, lawyer, nurse and so on. How many of us are guilty of saying things such as, "you need to go to school, get good grades so you can get a good job". Now imagine instead of teaching our kids their whole life to work for someone else we would simply change what we teach them. Lets ask questions like, what business will you own when you grow up, what will you invent, how many different business will you own. We teach our kids what our parents taught us and that is to work for someone else. I want kids to understand that they can work for themselves. It does not matter if you are born rich, middle class, or poor, it is your mindset that makes you stand out.
