About this project

We need your help! Upix is designed to be a fantastic photo and video sharing application. Created around a community, we want our backers and future users to not only help create the inital app (via Kickstarter), but also support us in developing updates for the application. Initial funding for this project will provide the financial support needed to fully design the application from the beginning stages until the end. Please read below as we need YOUR help building a successful community to support Upix!!

Key Features of the Upix App:

- A user will be able to register for an account and upload either an image, video (up to 30 seconds) or text. They can also record live if they would like. Uploaded pictures and videos will remain on the server for as long as the user chooses. The user will have an option to choose a time frame starting at one second. Once the video, image or text is viewed, it will disappear after that time frame. Content can also remain on the server indefinitely.

- Users will have the ability to tag their content and/or share the location of their content if they wish. The user can also decide whether or not to share their content publicly or privately with friends.

-Users can browse both publicly shared content and private content (based off their friends). Tags can be searched and locations can be searched. For instance, you can see uploaded data on a map for any city/state of your choosing. This is a great way to share pictures/videos from an event, or even at a friends party! Tagged content is also great as you can view uploads from any particular tag that you wish. Of course you do not have to search for content. We will always push content to your feed automatically.

- Users will be able to visit our landing page on our website. Here, users can submit and rate features that they would like to see in the future. By doing this, we can incorporate important updates to the app based solely off what our community of users want to see.

- The application design will be clean. The UI will be optimized for speed, reliability and security. Our back-end server will also be designed around these three primary goals.

Below are some other features of the application

Users will have the ability to create a profile within the application. They can add things like social media sites, city, college, etc.
Users have the ability to add friends via Facebook or address book in their phone.
Users will have a type of "news feed" where they can see real time data uploaded by either their friends, particular friend(s), or public data posted by all users.
Users can manage their uploads and will have the option to edit posts, delete posts, view comments and manage tags.
Users can comment on postings and "bump" them if they particularly like the posting.
Users also have the option to enable things such as push notifications.
We have outlined our primary features of the application. These are not the complete application details. There are many more minimal features that will be added to this application.

The primary reason we want to develop this application is to bring people an easy way to share pictures/videos and text with friends, family and their community. We want to add features that many photo/video sharing apps use, while also adding more! As you know, this project will be funded by our community. Afterwards, we will rely on our community to provide ideas for developmental updates and features. By doing this, we will develop a powerful and useful application that our entire community can use.

What is next for Upix?

After our application has been developed by our programmers and designers, application testing will begin. Our web server(s) will also be setup during this time and optimized to support the application. After all testing has been complete, we plan on launching the application on Iphone/Ipad/Android devices. Our informational landing page (where users can post and rate future updates) will then be created on our web server.

After the application is successfully running, we will immediately start on a web platform for Upix. We plan that the web platform will take up to 3 months to complete.

Afterwards, we will continue building a successful community with users like you!

Below is a timeline for Upix

3/9/15 - Upix was Launched on Kickstarter! Thank you for your support!

4/13/15 - Upix funding has ended on Kickstarter.

4/30/15 - Development has now started for Upix. The application should be fully developed within one month of this start date. Web server integration with the application will now start

5/30/15 - Testing will begin on the application. Beta users will most likely be chosen from Kickstarter to help rate the applications performance!

6/5/15 - Testing has ended and web server integration is complete. Final adjustments will now be made to the server in reference to security and reliability.

6/7/15 - Today is the day that we launch Upix!!! It will be available in the app store and the Google apps marketplace. Our landing page is now live on the server.
