That's a pretty good number of likes for 9 days. If you're starting out, the best way is to follow people in your industry and customer base. This article I wrote here can yield some insight:

Probably 10-25% will follow you back if they are interested in your company. Once you have a small following (500) more and more people will follow you when you tweet interesting/helpful things with relevant hashtags. Interacting on twitter with mentions is also a good way to engage in conversations and gain followers.
At the end of the day, you have to answer the question: why would people want to receive your messages?
As an example, for CrowdCrux, I will post helpful articles, tips, and news about crowdfunding in addition to posting my own articles. I take the time to curate these good articles and write some of them myself, so the benefit in following me is you don't have to spend your time each day on google. You can just click on an article in my feed if it looks interesting or seems like it would be helpful to you. I also try to encourage people to follow me by notifying about new contests through my twitter feed and promotion opportunities.
There are definitely two segmentations though - people in your industry/service providers and customers. In my experience, it's harder to get customers to follow you, but more worthwhile at the end of the day. See the article I posted for more information on that topic. Being connected with service providers is good for keeping up with industry news and keeping an eye on the competition.
