The Girl in the Chair - Short Film about a kidnap victim

    by girlinthechairfilm » Mon Apr 22, 2013 9:04 pm

    Hello All,

My name is Louis Gordon. I'm the writer and director of an experimental short film, The Girl in the Chair, shooting this June in Western Connecticut.

The film is about a teenaged girl who escapes from a kidnapping to discover a strange world she's been hidden from; a projection of her memories, hopes and fears as she struggles to adapt to adulthood and reconnect with her long-lost family.

The film is loosely inspired by the case of Genie Wiley, a widely-studied child abuse victim who was kept tied to a potty chair until she was 13 years old.

I'm trying to raise money to fund the shoot, and could use all the support I can get.

Check out the fundraiser at: http://igg.me/at/girlinthechairfilm/x/2594864

    And the website at http://www.girlinthechairfilm.com

In return for donations are DVD copies, exclusive updates, and Associate Producer credits, among others. The donations are also 501(c)3 tax deductible.

If you can, please help spread the word or contribute.

    Thank you all so much!

Congrats on reaching 1/5 of your fundraising goal! As we talked about in the email, it seems like you guys are progressing along nicely. To be honest, social media is more of a long-term influencer, but it could help out a little in the short run.

If you begin to build out your twitter page, when people look to see who followed them, they may click on the link to your campaign if it is prominently displayed, which could lead to pledges if they like your campaign. In addition, by being relevant in the film community on Twitter/forums, you are more likely to get re-tweets if you are not only out there promoting your stuff, but also other helpful articles for film producers.
