    SPEAKER CREATURES!

    by chrismoss » Mon Apr 07, 2014 1:31 pm

Hi my name is Chris and I am currently a student working at OnHand and we just launched our Kickstarter campaign. It has a goal of $15,000 and is a project to bring a better music experience to your shower. As a college student myself, I have been guilty of bringing my expensive laptop and phone near the shower to listen to music. Everyone at OnHand decided to come up with a speaker that could be easily placed in the shower and will not be damaged. If anyone has any feedback on gaining backers, recognition, and getting the word out I would be happy to hear it!

The Shower Speakers come in two different models. There is the “Shower Snail” and the “Shower Octopus”. Both of these models have strong suction cups on the bottom that stick right in your shower. They also play your music straight from your Bluetooth device up to thirty feet away! The speakers come with three different buttons that allow you to change songs, adjust volume, and even answer calls from the shower with the built in microphone. The speakers hold up to six hours of battery life and are charged with a Micro USB. They come in three fun different colors and definitely bring a much better music experience to your shower!

Please check out my project and give me some feedback (or back it!).

    You had me at "octopus"

These are genius! The design is really striking... how and where are these manufactured? Do you have the relative specs for the speakers themselves compared to similar, non-waterproof models?

    Hi DIYShakespeare

We work with our factories in SE Asia and packaged and assembled in Massachusetts . Yes all the specs are on the Kickstarter page and we do not have any not water-resistant models.

What a great idea and product. You guys were smart to demonstrate that the product is ready for the factory. How many Kickstarter projects failed because the project leaders didn't get a manufacturer on board first? All the best. Woo Hoo!

@chris - any tips to share now that you have met and surpassed your fundraising goal? What promotion tactics have you found to be effective? What's the breakdown like for pledges from Kickstarter vs. friends/family vs. social media vs. external?
