Thanks, we're really happy about the progress the campaign has made! There were some things working in our favor from the get go and some things that we actively did to help us get the word out.
First of all, we had had a previously successful campaign on Kickstarter of Steampunk themed, Bicycle-branded playing cards with art featuring the work of goggle artists for sale on our site
www.SteampunkGoggles.com That first put us on the radar of a lot of different groups of people; game fans, cardists, Steampunks, etc. You can see it here:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/co ... cc-bicycle We wanted this game to have a Steampunk flavor as well because it worked really well with the building and invention aspect, but at the same time not make it explicitly Steampunk so that people who were not as into the genre could still enjoy it.
We also put in a lot of work into spreading the word before we launched. We play-tested constantly, and sent prototypes to meetup groups, and gaming cafes to get a sense of how the game played. We also contacted lots of big names in the gaming community who do game reviews to play the game and give us their honest feedback on the game. Not only did this help us reach a whole new audience it also helped us find ways to make the game better. Here's a few:
