    RV Revival

    by Adam_b » Thu Mar 09, 2017 6:06 pm

Adam and I have been filming at Timeless Travel Trailers in Colorado for several months. Timeless rescues vintage RVs: Airstreams, Spartans even Flxible buses from rotting away in scrapyards or farmers’ fields before re-purposing or renovating them into extraordinary custom kitchens, recording studios, coffee shops - anything their clients can image Timeless can design and build. Your kind pledges will allow us to produce an RV Revival Kickstarter 'Special'. If we are fortunate enough to raise more than our target, we shall continue to film further episodes as there is certainly no shortage of great projects for us to film at Timeless.

We started filming the “William Vale” - an old dilapidated Airstream that was being transformed into an amazing rooftop kitchen for a swanky new hotel in Brooklyn. The empty shell was fitted to a new beefed-up chassis and the exterior was reskinned so new windows, and a serving hatch could be cut into the sides. Production culminated in us traveling to New York to film the RV kitchen being hoisted up to the rooftop garden. The classic Airstream became the perfect “trendy” host for such a hip project.

The second project we filmed was the more modest remodelling of Tom and Cathy’s Airstream home. The couple spend much of the year living and working on the road and found their modern Airstream designed for family getaways, was not ideal as an office. They really wanted an office desk and storage space, as well as a hidden kitty litter box for their two cute cats! Timeless’ talented cabinet makers created a custom, more appropriate work desk (that could still be used at mealtimes) and a large waist- high storage space with countless drawers.

Tom and Cathy have since sent us footage of how the small changes have made such a big difference to the quality of their nomadic live/work lifestyle. Yes, they also sent us a picture of a very happy, if somewhat embarrassed cat, using the secret loo!

The incredible staff at Timeless are an extremely talented, creative bunch and watching them skillfully create bespoke custom parts for nearly all aspects of their projects was a real privilege. Many of the team starting their working lives in theater, the film props industry or even NASCAR. Some inherited their skills as kids while rebuilding old cars in the garage with their Dads and Moms. This was true of fabricator Jay whose Dad taught him to hum while welding to help produce a more even weld. Jay’s “hum” of choice was anything by Def Leppard!

We were really made to feel welcome by everyone at Timeless, which is no mean feat as we were sticking our cameras in their faces every five minutes and asking “what you doing?”

Adam and I have donated our time so far filming and editing promos, but we need your help to film a little more at Timeless, including extreme slow motion shots of drilling, welding, wood cutting, riveting and more. Slow motion will offer the viewer a fascinating and visually stunning frame by frame analytical view of exactly these processes work and and as a professed “geek” I really want to see for myself!

The overwhelming task at hand is the editing of countless hours of footage into the twenty six minute show. A documentary “as it happens” style of filming takes a long time to edit together and your kind pledges will mean that Adam and I can concentrate solely on this process. If our Kickstarter campaign is successful (fingers crossed), we shall begin editing straight away and making sure you get all your ‘Rewards’ as soon as possible.

Timeless’ outstanding work helps preserve America’s RV heritage. We hope you share our enthusiasm for RV Revival and can help us make it happen.

    Thank you, Adam and Andy.
