So different, we had to create a new genre, the Neo-Novel.
Most graphic novels (and comics) are designed for print and then adapted for the web. The result is usually nothing more than a fancy PDF. We started from scratch using the best gaming engine on the planet, Unity 3D. With Unity, we can incorporate smooth panel/page movements, sounds, special effects, and even music. However, we retain the still image art form because we think it is still the best. The result is a novel that is easy to read, fully interactive, and really cool.
Ok, nice idea, but will it work? Good question. MOF, it was our first goal to create a proof of concept. We had to know it would work before we could proceed to production. After many months and through 3 different software developers, we finally produced a prototype. The result was like nothing we had seen before. Really fluid page movements, special effects, sound and yet it retains the art and beauty of the still form which is part of the graphic novel.
We have shown the artwork, the concept, and the story to seasoned veterans in the industry. Most were impressed. Even this guy from a series you may have heard of: The Walking Dead.
