    by Gabaapp » Tue Sep 15, 2015 10:26 pm

    Hi my name is Michelle,

I am trying Kick starter for the first time. I have a great product and am trying my hardest to get word out about it.

    I would love some feedback.

My kickstarter page is here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/12 ... acegabaapp

Hi, I saw you KS campaign.

To be blunt, I can't see it working ;(

First thing is your rewards aren't good enough. From Brownies to tshirts (expensive $100 tee!), that's not what backers want. If they're supporting your site then they want to be apart of your project. Backers aren't there to help you soley (unless you can make a good case for it on the page), they expect something back.

I can clearly see how you'd make money, from advertising, retailers and suppliers. But the setup is a case where retailers are paying to be listed on the site, then they're competiting amongst themselves? If they've already got a site already, then why would they want a section on yours where obviously the one with the lowest prices wins.

Wine suppliers are very "old school", I guess alot don't have a proper presence online. But alot of them like it that way, they have traditions, connections with shops and businesses that have lasted years and alot don't want it to change.

I can see why you created the campaign, but I don't think you thought about how it would function?

Sorry to be blunt, I did spend time going through your listing. All the best.

Thank you for your response and it gives me a lot to think about and how I should update the post. We are not charging the retailers to be on the site for one. They only pay if we make a sale. We are doing pay per click with the highest click rate on check out. It's a win win situation for the retailer because they eaither make a sale or they don't. If they don't it doesn't cost them anything. I will update my rewards as well. I was just reading advice on how to do reward levels I will lower them.

Hi. I remembered reading about how the retailers pay for advertising/hosting etc., so that's where I read it from.

I think if you could aim this KS page at actual retailers, then a reward tier could be "pay no commission for the 1st 6 months or something".

You want to attract retailers, I think they're the best backers you could get for this project.

Well the rules of kickstarter are that a financial incentive may not be a reward. Plus we already have an introductory rate in place. I would love to give financial incentive. I thought the shirts were cool because the skyline is original art and people really liked the bottle skyline. I also wish everyone knew how good of a cook I was because they might be running to get my brownies :-)

I do appreciate your feedback though. I have added a section clarifying that there are no fees to be a regular member just in case that was the general perception.
