My failing project- Warlord- Strategy Game

    by warlord » Wed Apr 26, 2017 10:04 pm

Reserving this spot for anyone who wants to delve into any mistakes I've made, hopefully it will help others out too who have yet to launch :D Warlord has been up for a couple days now and has received a reasonable amount of exposure on twitter and kickstarter itself (according to analytics), despite this, funds are pretty low. I'm thinking it has something to do with not having built up an audience pre-campaign, but I could be wrong. Anywho, the link is: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/492717721/warlord
I've also created a headspace account which is promoting my project on twitter from multiple accounts, some with over 250k followers. "pledgewithashare" marketing site is also being used on my twitter and Kickstarter page. Perhaps it's the project itself? Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Did you do any kind of email marketing or directly message friends on Facebook?

After my campaign went up I gained around 300 (targeted) twitter followers and tweeted about my campaign about every 30 mins. I didnt dm anyone or email anyone due to fact that I had no email list/ mass sender to do so. Do you think these two things are important?

Hi Warlord, sending mass tweets is not a good idea but having a good email list is very important. However your email list has to be prepared before the launch of your campaign, and then email your subscribers to announce your campaign launch and also send them periodical updates during your campaign.

Ah well that makes sense. And I assume you build this list over a period of time through advertising a newsletter? Only thing I can think of other than buying bulk emails from marketing sits. I'll keep this in mind.

This Google+ Community has a section for posting Kickstarter projects and has over 400,000 members:
    https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities ... 8217615018

But every online form of promotion you do should avoid spamming people all the time. Try to comment, start a conversation, and share your campaign sparingly.

On Twitter, some people suggest using a 4:1 rule. Share four valuable posts relating to your industry and then your campaign or self-promotion once every four posts.

You can check out this post for more places that cover Kickstarter video game campaigns:

Also, MailChimp is a free tool with paid options that lets you manage 2,000 email subscribers and send 12,000 emails a month. It can help you build an email list, has templates, and give you information about email marketing campaigns.

Hope some of this helps and good luck if you plan on launching again!
