I honestly don't remember. It's such an ingrained part of the cultural zeitgeist at this point. Probably from something like Nerdist or Gizmodo or something like that.
I first heard about it when an artist named Amanda Palmer did a crowdfunding campaign for her tour. I'm looking forward to learning how to launch a successful campaign or two for myself and some friends.
I heard about Kickstarter because it sounded like the perfect way to succeed in our new project. Which is to support independent artists in bringing to life their 2D or 3D creations and making real Art Toys out of them!

Actually I was looking for ways to publicise my crowdfunding project and I found myself typing “how to publicise a crowdfunding project” on Google.
Clicked on a blog and boom, I saw the reccomandation.
I heard about Kickstarter way back in the early days. It was a campaign by Studio Neat (their first one I think) that was featured in a design blog I follow (Core 77). I've been an addict creator/backer ever since!
