we have put everything (OS, apps, files, user preferences) in the MicroSD. When you leave, simply extract the MicroSD and bring it with you. Immediate, safe and easily upgradable.
We had a very user focused development, a light, eye candy and fast environment, tested for fully performing working sessions (office, photo editor), home movie (graphic acceleration, Netflix compatibility), makers medium (Arduino IDE), immediate and wireless mobile file sharing, silent and privacy/theft proof. Fast, cheap and uninque.
We are aware of not being the first to propose the stickPC, but we decided to dip the project in a strong philosophy and analysis of its use, instead of starting a race to see who owns the more powerful device. Our studies have led us to select the solution of dual core as the best one for performance to be complied with, in terms of a price as low as possible to pursue the universality and simplicity of approach which are aiming for. This solution in fact (also evident from the live video available on the project page) proved to be ideal for all common tasks in view of the standard users we kept under analysis. The ability of reading / writing of SD confers a performance increase markedly more vertical than the more hexose increase in computing power, and gives the freedom to the user (as opposed to NAND solutions) of being able to increase at a later time the speed of the his device with a really minimal cost and expertise. The project is also designed not to end with HardWhere campaign, we designed to make this device the angular stone at the center of a whole host of new features and services (a particular evolution of the digital whiteboard LIM, a strong dialogue and interaction with sensors, home automation) that can dialoghe natively to a single, easy and inexpensive platform.
