Going commando with our first Kickstarter campaign?

    by deckofjustice » Wed Jun 20, 2018 11:41 am

    Hey everyone,

We just launched our first Kickstarter campaign, and wanted to share with you some daily updates of how going commando with our new card game is working out for us

    Image

Our game is called The Deck of Justice and it is basically a Tarantino-ish homage and parody of our beloved (and hated) badass action heroes.

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/29 ... =user_menu

The game is a ridiculously frantic, yet highly tactical for 1-6 players. Players take turns striking one another (with fully loaded heroes, armored vehicles and bulging biceps) in a series of quick cowboy standoffs until there is only one survivor. It is basically a parody of all the (weird) stuff we love about Japanese cartoon...with a Tarantino-ish homage style to the 70s (and 80s)...encapsulated in an outrageously fast-paced & novel (with a touch of retro) game mechanics.

The mechanics are novel and extremely simple but explosively complex with a touch of retro to blend in smoothly with the chosen theme.

We did not do any promotions or advertising prior to releasing the game on Kickstarter, hence the commando style.

Will keep you updated with how things are going 8-)

Please share your thoughts and experiences if you have done something similar, or any question regarding our marketing strategy.

    Omar ;)

Cool guys, if things change and you do need advertising/promotion feel free to get in touch.

For me, the video didn't explain too much what you're doing. A mix of 80's and 90's style should be about the right age range for Kickstarter backers...so I'm thinking the video might of put them off, which you can measure on the Kickstarter dashboard.

Ideally images of people playing the game, the rules broken down simply and staying away from the sketches/WIP shots should help a bit.

    Best of luck.

Thanks for the feedback. Actually we are currently looking into this. You will also find another gameplay video in the middle of the page with some of the stuff you mentioned (people playing, rules mechanics...etc) and also narrated by a Morgan Freeman-ish voice over :) :)
Please check it out and let us know your opinion....much appreciated

Heard it already but by having that voice over isn't going to increase your backers :)

Also if you're relying on people to watch the video(s) first and then back you, it doesn't always work that way.

So probably this is the first thing we should update everyone about and how by adding few more gameplay pictures the response rate changed :)

The art is awesome!!! I'm curious to see the commando approach and how it plays out.
