First time - realising the donts the hard way

    by nissemos » Tue Nov 15, 2016 10:19 pm

Hi, just wanted to share a few things I realised the hard way :)

    1. Facebook ads are not really worth it, they have a really really high bounce rate. I have tried different target audiances but none seems worth it.

    2. Dont launch the project at the election of a new president

    3. Dont release your press release the same day as election.. journalists are not focused on film... I can tell you that, (arrogant Swede) :)

    4. Poster image is very very important

    5. Its hard to get back up after you loose the launch momentum.

    Guess nothing new here :)

Here is my project if you are interested :)

Hi, BALDER looks pretty good and I agree with some of your points like FB, launching during the election isn't really a big issue. Actually the % of successfully funded campaigns is higher in film compared to others too :)

What I took away from your campaign page is that the visuals look great, but potential backers would really need to know more about the film itself + the director. I think the director is the most important in a film...

I really can't see tshirts being the way forward. Stuff like props, name a character in the film itself, a company business/sponsorship in the background of scenes would be much more valuable.

    Best of luck guys!

    Hi! Thanks for sharing.

I just launch my 1st Kickstarter project yesterday and I am starting to feel the pressure. It's a great project you got there. I will recommend to my cousins!

Ok but just be careful people don't think you're making x10 posts the same, just to post your own link. You can create your own thread for that and not "piggy back" on someone elses post to promote yours...that's not how this forum works :)

hihi! Yes yes! I am sorry if I appear to be "piggybacking". I am honestly giving my opinions because I feel the same thing! Haha! :) Thanks for your advice btw! :D

Thanks for the advice. Launching a campaign after this election has definitely been difficult with so many emotions no matter which way you wanted the outcome to be!

I just launched my first campaign last night. I am starting to feel like it's almost impossible to have success on Kickstarter unless you have a team of videographers, writers, marketers, etc.

Hi, you're sort of right but it does depend on the product. Having a great video helps, high quality images and text and a breakdown of the features is useful. Usually momentum builds up once you've been featured somewhere.

I took a look at the Can Corrector, where it's failing is a lack of images (just by looking at images alone, would a backer know what it is?), alot more text is needed and a feature list. Also, you've made it for specific bins/cans. If potential backers do have this type of bin, would they want to purchase a set of 12? If walls don't have a skirting board then it would be against the wall anyway?

Best of luck with the campaign, I hope it doesn't put you off inventing!
