Can a GPU take load off the CPU?

I'm mulling over the idea of upgrading my PC to make FreeCAD faster. I'm a linux user.

Some things slow FreeCAD to a halt: linear or polar features, fillets, etc.

My GPU is old and slow. I'm running an AMD A10-6700 APU with integrated graphics.

Will a modern graphics card take load off the CPU?

No GPU can't take a little bit of work of CPU. But CPU can take a little bit of work of GPU. This is why it is always important to take care so that the CPU is never overloaded. Overloading it will create, first of all, problems with the operating system. It will slow down the work of WMI host providers. You can read more about them on softwaretesttips.com. It uses CPU to run Windows, and when CPU can't make good conditions for them to work, Windows starts to glitch and, from time to time, shut down and show the blue screen of death.
