You guys are amazing. The number of projects some of you have backed is aspiring, thanks for being awesome.
I have only backed one project so far.

I've backed about 40 projects, a mix of comics, films and creative charity projects. I tend to back projects that I find different than a lot of other things that are out there or projects that resonate with me emotionally. One of my favorites was The Magic Wheelchair, epic Halloween costumes for kids who are confined to wheelchairs. Check it out if you get a chance. It was wildly creative and made kids really happy.

I usually back projects because 1) I like the idea 2) they need help. Or a combo of those two reasons.

Most recently I backed a little device to hold my phone/tablet on my knee as I struggle to feed our baby and promote Hoarders at the same time. Did I mention thats a full-time job? bleh! (link below!)

I have backed about 15 projects, mostly when I feel that this is something that I have never seen before and that solves a problem in my life or that could potentially give a boost to my life. Mostly tech stuff but sometimes other stuff to.

About 10 now ...

2. What is your most frequent reason for backing?
indie games are usually good .. Nice story line. Also, a lot of cute stuff are sold there.

I recently backed a very cool tech project called Saent (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/saen ... ted#/story). It's an anti-distraction device which you hook up to your computer. They surpassed their goal of $50,000. A couple months ago I backed a movie called King of Peking (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/18 ... herhood-an. I live in Beijing and since this movie is based here, I'm very keen to see it. It's directed by an Australian guy who also lived here for a while. They reached their goal of $50,000. Interestingly enough, they also made use of the Chinese crowdfunding equivilant. Crowdfunding in China is still pretty knew so it must have been pretty rough going.

I'm currently backing and tracking a bilingual sitcom called Wok in Progress on Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/no ... com-series). It's about two foreigners trying to crack Beijing. I'm hoping that this show conveys the actual experience of living here. I hope they get their goal otherwise I probably wont get to see it.

My wife and I work as a team and together we have backed about 20 projects.

We back projects for multiple reasons. We have been a part of 2 successful Kickstarter Campaigns and are currently in the middle of a third right now (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pu ... ers-anchor) so we Completely Understand how much work goes into them and how much is means to have people back a campaign. So, we try to repay the favor when we are asked to.
Also, as Actors and filmmakers ourselves we see the benefit in backing films as a way to connect with other like minded people. The last film we backed we ended up getting contacted by the director and asked to audition, then booked roles in the film.

I will say that no matter how much we want to back something, if there is NOT an interesting incentive it makes it very difficult for us to back it. Getting something out of it is one of the great things about Kickstarter so we LOVE seeing people get creative with their incentives.

I tend to back more in the product design section.
One I loved was the Sunport, which allowed you to use Solar Energy without Solar Panels.
Another one is the Bruvelo Coffe Maker, which is still up!

I have backed only 3 Campaigns in the last year, 2 were successful and one was suspended by Kickstarter for some reason.

I try my best to find really quirky design projects that make me say" Why didn't I think of that.

I never knew there was such a forum! I backed a few projects and have come across a few pretty cool ones recently! I'm a bit of a fashion type of guy who carries as minimal as possible and thought that this project was so cool! It's called Zero: slimmest card wallet. (Not sure if I can post a link...)
